Work is progressing on the new experiential bridge “Muste” across the Ljubljanica River in Ljubljana.

The 72-metre-long structure will create a new link between Štepanjsko naselje and Nove Fužine, while the wider project also includes a pavilion and new public squares on both sides of the river.

Designed as more than just a transport connection, the bridge will serve as an attractive public space for pedestrians and cyclists. The layout separates walking and cycling paths along the outer edges, while the central section is defined by a shallow arch supporting the lower structure. Beneath the arch, visitors will find areas intended for relaxation and public events, while an elevated curved ramp above will provide unique views and a more engaging crossing experience.

The winning concept for the pedestrian and cycling bridge was chosen through a public competition in 2019 and was developed by the teams at Pipenbaher Consulting Engineers, Ponting, and Atelier Arhitekti. The project is commissioned by the City Municipality of Ljubljana, with construction works being executed by STRABAG.
